Before you get the offer…you need to get the interview!
About Us
World Data Processing, Inc. (known in the industry as WDP),
parent company to JobSmart Resume, is an executive recruiting group
with over 25 years of experience and a history of working with
small, medium, and Fortune 1000 companies. We have helped thousands
of people get their foot in the door and get the interview that
lands them the job. Whether it was a six-figure power position or
an entry-level position, each and every candidate had one thing in
common - in order to get a job they needed to get their resume read
by the hiring manager, the ultimate decision-maker!
Which is to say that WDP has lots of "in-the-trenches"
experience, and thousands of placement success stories to its
credit.
JobSmart Resume is the brainchild of Larry Willson, one of WDP's
most senior and innovative managers. Larry has a long history of
introducing sophisticated custom-designed recruiter software tools
into the daily recruiting operation of WDP.
At one time recruiters had to wade through piles of resumes
organized in binders to do candidate searches. There were few
commercially available recruiting software tools you could buy off
the shelf, none of which met WDP's needs. So Larry got together
with a brilliant programmer and they built their own software tool.
It was an Agency Recruiting Management System product they called
ARMS, that provided almost instantaneous search capabilities for
WDP's fast growing database of candidates. WDP recruiters loved it!
And it quickly became the operation backbone of the company.
But nothing stays the same, and almost overnight came the
Internet, along with mountains of resumes! WDP recruiters were
drowning in web resumes pouring in every day.
Larry's philosophy was always to "work smart, not hard," and
once again, ahead of the pack, he developed an in-house
application, ResumeRead®, to import, "read," store, and search
electronic resumes. Larry and his programming team loaded
ResumeRead®, with bells and whistles so that recruiters could
easily handle a lot more recruiting tasks than ever before.
However, Larry Willson observed that in the course of his team's
research in the use of parsing engine technology, potential
problems existed for job seekers submitting electronic resumes -
problems of which they were unaware and which could cost them
jobs.
All resume reading software is not made
equal.
It hadn't taken long for recruiter resume reading software tools
to become widespread. The problem is that some software products
"read" resumes more accurately than others, and worse, some even
reject resumes with formats they can't handle.
Most resumes are dinosaurs trying to get
around in a space-age electronic world.
Resumes are still being written according to rules laid down in
the dark ages of paper resumes sent by postal snail mail to
recruiters and hiring managers.
Some are impossible to read even with
the most expensive and sophisticated software.
Recruiters tend to favor resumes they trust to cut down on hours
of time-consuming "qualifying" phone calls needed to determine a
candidate's exact skill set. Most resumes do not accurately and
clearly indicate the exact nature of a candidate's skills and
experience as they relate to the jobs recruiters are working hard
to fill.
As a job seeker, your time is equally valuable. Candidates too
often get calls from recruiters which waste their time, about jobs
they neither want, nor for which they have the required skills.
A common remark often heard among people
in the job market: "didn't the recruiter read my
resume?"
It boils down to a simple equation according to Larry - people
want jobs and recruiters are trying to fill jobs. Let's cut out the
wasted moves and bring both parties together as quickly and as
effortlessly as possible. How to plow through the mountains of
Internet resumes and get the right candidate matched to the right
job was the problem to be solved. And solved it was!
Larry came to the conclusion that any resume should be able to
be read - with 100% accuracy - by any resume-reading parsing engine
software out there.
Resumes not compatible with a parsing
engine could cost candidates jobs.
So, once again Larry gathered a team of bright programmers and
instructed them to come up with an easy-to-use, low-cost software
that would convert existing resumes into ones that were compatible
with any parsing engine being used anywhere, and provide recruiters
with 100% accurate up-to-date skill and experience history.
And they did!
